Legend of the Galactic Heroes - Free Planets Alliance 13th Fleet Flagship Hyperion figure, Plastic Model Kit

In Legend of the Galactic Heroes (Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu), war is fought as much through ideals as through fleets, and starships become symbols of power, strategy, and collective fate. The Free Planets Alliance 13th Fleet Flagship Hyperion captures that grand-scale space warfare feeling, with a command-ship silhouette built to lead operations across a galaxy. This official release is a Plastic Model Kit by Kotobukiya, made of plastic, in 1/3000 scale, with an overall length of about 31 cm, already an impressive size for a space model.

Within the story, the Free Planets Alliance represents a political and military vision that clashes with rival powers, and its fleets face battles where maneuvering and anticipation decide everything. A flagship is the nervous system of a fleet: the place where decisions, transmissions, and frontline coordination converge. As the 13th Fleet’s flagship, Hyperion naturally conveys that idea of a mobile command post, and the kit emphasizes a more institutional, functional presence rather than a spiky or weapon-forward design.

Visually, the model is a long, highly rectangular ship in a dominant seafoam/turquoise tone, with darker paneling and markings that underline certain volumes. You can see small raised details across the hull, along with multiple thin vertical rods suggesting antennas or communication structures placed along the top. The bow is wide and flat, and the overall impression is a solid “block” built for function and logistics more than sleek elegance. The ship is displayed on a black base with a curved support arm, making it easy to show in a flying pose and fully appreciate its length.
