The Command Wolf Irvine Special, a wolf-type Zoid piloted by Irvine in the Zoids anime series, returns in a 1999 Recolor version produced by Kotobukiya. This 1/72 scale plastic model kit measures approximately 22 cm in length and recreates the machine's distinctive appearance with jet-black armor, red protective panels and a large weapon mounted on its back. This updated release preserves the mechanical features of the original design while introducing revised molded colors.
In Zoids: Chaotic Century, Irvine is an experienced mercenary and pilot who gradually joins Van Flyheight and his companions on their adventures. His customized Command Wolf stands out through its black armor, red shoulder panels and equipment designed for ranged combat. This model kit allows different combat configurations to be recreated with a long-range rifle that can be exchanged for a 5 cm twin-barreled anti-Zoid beam cannon. The cockpit can be opened to accommodate the included Irvine pilot figure. Transparent parts and a newly designed decal sheet are also provided to reproduce additional details of this anime-inspired version.
The model depicts Command Wolf standing on all four legs, featuring an elongated mechanical body and a wolf-like head with angular jaws. Its armor combines different shades of black and dark gray, contrasting with the red protective sections on its sides and shoulders. A translucent orange cockpit is visible in the head area, while a long black rifle is mounted along its back. Its four articulated legs reveal exposed mechanical components, pistons and numerous armor panels. The segmented tail and mechanical claws complete its combat-oriented appearance.
