Neon Genesis Evangelion - Rei Ayanami figure, S.H.Figuarts

In Neon Genesis Evangelion, Rei Ayanami is one of the franchise’s most memorable characters, with an instantly recognizable presence built on silence, restraint, and an almost constant sense of mystery. As the pilot of Evangelion Unit-00, she stands as a central figure in the universe, both through her appearance and through the very particular place she holds in the story. This official Rei Ayanami PVC figure by Bandai, from the S.H.Figuarts line, stands approximately 14 cm tall and presents the character in an articulated format designed for posing and expression.

Within the world of Evangelion, Rei holds an essential place because she embodies many of the series’ deepest themes, especially identity, isolation, and connection with others. Her relationship with Gendo, her singular bond with Shinji, and the way she seems to exist almost at a distance give her a role far larger than her outward reserve might suggest. She brings to the story a presence that feels cold on the surface, yet carries fragility, strangeness, and an almost unreal quality that leaves a lasting impression on the work. Her role in the battles against the Angels as well as in the emotional balance of the series makes her an essential figure, somewhere between absolute calm, sacrifice, and distance. This figure reflects that identity well by focusing on her simplicity, straight posture, and range of expressions.

Visually, the piece shows Rei standing in her iconic white plugsuit, with black, green, and orange details clearly visible across the torso, arms, and legs. Her short very light blue hair frames the face, with her characteristic small white clips on both sides. The image also shows several included accessories, with different interchangeable face plates, multiple extra hands, an additional neck or upper chest part, and an articulated display stand with an orange base for varied posing. The overall result keeps a very clear silhouette that stays faithful to the character, with strong display potential.
