Evangelion:1.0 - Penpen figure, Ichibansho

In Evangelion:1.0, Penpen brings a very distinctive and instantly recognizable presence to the world of the series. In the middle of the psychological tension, Angel battles, and the often heavy atmosphere that defines Evangelion, this small domestic penguin introduces a strange everyday touch that is easy to remember. This official Penpen from Evangelion:1.0 PVC figure by Bandai, from the Ichibansho line, stands approximately 8 cm tall and presents the character in a compact version faithful to his unique appearance.

Within the world of Evangelion, Penpen holds a modest but important place in the balance of the story. As Misato’s companion, he is one of those everyday elements that contrast with the violence, loneliness, and constant pressure experienced by the main characters. His simple presence in the apartment helps make that space feel more alive, more unusual too, but above all more human. He brings an unexpected pause to the narrative, a quiet sense of humor, and a kind of absurd softness that is very typical of the series when it briefly steps away from its constant tension. The figure reflects that spirit well through an expressive attitude immediately tied to his role as an offbeat mascot.

Visually, the piece shows Penpen standing upright, with his beak wide open as if calling out or reacting loudly. His body uses his familiar contrast between a white belly and black back, with small wings spread apart and clearly visible yellow feet. The red spiky crest on top of his head draws the eye right away, as does his large stylized green eye. Around his neck, he wears his well-known pink scarf, along with a small chest tag marked “PEN.” The simple format and frontal pose give him a very clear display presence that is easy to showcase.
