Wednesday - Thing mood lamp

Thing is one of the most iconic presences in The Addams Family universe, a franchise where the macabre, the strange, and dark humor blend into an intentionally offbeat everyday life. Although it appears to be only a disembodied hand, it holds an immediately recognizable place thanks to its gestures, autonomy, and discreet but constant role alongside the Addams family. This official 18 x 19 cm lamp, produced by Blue Sky Studios and powered by 3 LR44 batteries not included, recreates that iconic silhouette in a decorative format designed to bring a strange and recognizable touch to any space.

Within its universe, Thing is not just a visual gag or a living prop placed in the background. It fully belongs to the identity of The Addams Family, with its own way of existing, moving, and interacting that makes it almost as expressive as a complete character. Its unusual appearance always contrasts with how naturally it is accepted inside the Addams household, and that exact mix of strangeness and familiarity is what makes it so charming. This lamp captures that side of the character very well by turning the famous hand into an everyday light-up object without losing the bizarre and instantly recognizable aura that defines it.

Visually, the item takes the shape of a severed hand raised in a crawling pose, with the fingers extended and spread as if moving across a surface. The pale beige skin is marked by numerous dark and reddish stitches visible around the fingers, across the back of the hand, and at the cut wrist, immediately recalling the character’s classic appearance. The silhouette remains very clear, with a deliberately realistic treatment in the finger shapes, nails, and palm. Here, the lamp function is integrated directly into that strange form, turning Thing into a decorative object in its own right. Its compact size makes it easy to place on a bedside table, shelf, or desk.
