Touhou Project - Rumia figure illustration by Uuzan, F:Nex

Rumia appears in Touhou Project, a universe of shooting games and derivative works where supernatural beings, youkai, and mysterious figures inhabit a world that feels both poetic and unsettling. Among the characters in the franchise, she stands out through an immediately recognizable image tied to darkness and to a presence that feels stranger than imposing. This official 24 cm 1/7 scale PVC figure by FuRyu, part of the F:Nex line, presents Rumia based on an illustration by Uuzan, with a composition that emphasizes her floating atmosphere and the contrast between her light silhouette and the dark substance surrounding her.

Within the world of Touhou Project, Rumia is a youkai associated with darkness, able to manipulate shadows and appear as a figure who feels at once simple, childlike, and unsettling. She does not leave an impression through heroic stature or overt power, but rather through the discreet mystery that surrounds her appearances. That balance between apparent innocence and strangeness is exactly what gives her such a distinctive place within Gensokyo. This FuRyu adaptation captures that identity well by favoring a suspended, almost weightless pose, as if the character were naturally floating above a mass of shadow that belongs to her.

Visually, Rumia is shown seated high in a folded and very fluid pose, with one hand close to the face and both legs gathered to one side in a calm attitude. She wears a dark dress with puffed white sleeves, decorated with pale frills at the collar, cuffs, and hem, along with a red bow at the chest and a large red ribbon in the hair. Her short blonde hair frames a soft face with pinkish red eyes and an expression that feels peaceful yet slightly elusive. Beneath her, the base takes the form of a large black flowing mass, almost like smoke or living darkness, rising in irregular curves and giving the piece much of its character. The overall result creates a strong contrast between the lightness of the character and the shifting darkness of the base.
